HELLO 2019

Hey! It's been a while. I'm still here! So college has been pretty crazy hence why I never keep my promises of blogging once a week.

I'll keep making them though! Well, not promises, more like challenges. I don't want to pressure myself, but at the same time, I really want to be motivated to keep coming back and writing about my experiences as The Ethical Girl

So, what have I been up to?
My year started in the last week of January, which is when my exam season was finally over and I could relax, think about the past year and dream about the year ahead. So, I know I'm late, but let's do this:

2018 Review

The past year was a really exciting one for me. I did Erasmus in Sevilla which was an amazing experience (I am currently editing some videos about that, so stay tuned!).

On that journey I learned a lot about myself, and it was hard, but worth it.

While I was there, I donated my hair for the second time, and that has been my most popular video yet!

After those intense 6 months, I came back home to Lisbon, and not long after, I traveled to Costa Rica with my family. It was the most amazing trip I've ever done in my life, we had so much fun and were incredibly inspired.

2018 was the year I discovered vegan activism, and I'm so happy I did. I met so many wonderful people through activism, and my only regret is not having tried it sooner!

The following months were hard - if I had to give them a title, it would be "College strikes back".  I didn't have a lot of time to celebrate Christmas or the New Year. But I survived and I'm really proud of what I achieved this semester. And now I'm finally on vacation, and I can

What I hope for 2019

This year I want to do more.

I want to meet new people and make new friends, as well as share incredible experiences with the people I already know and love.

I want to be more active and fight to make this world a better place, both online and offline. I want to learn more about the causes I believe in so I can be a better advocate. I want to be more confident, and I don't want to be so scared that I'll be considered crazy or too serious. I tend to avoid important topics in conversations for fear of turning people away with my "radical" beliefs. But the reality is that we are in desperate need of an urgent revolution. I need to worry more about that and less in being nice (and by being nice I mean making people feel comfortable in this messed up system).

I want to learn new skills and develop those I've already learned, like sewing, driving, debating,  writing, video production, photography, crochet, singing, and so many more...

I want to read! I used to love reading, but ever since I got into college, I don't read anymore. I want to fall in love with books again, and so I'm challenging myself to read at least one book per month. My January book was a tiny book about Space and Portugal (I picked a tiny one because I started this challenge with only 3 days left until the end of January!). For February I'm reading Wicked by Maguire, and I think I might be able to finish it soon!

I want to write, not just on this blog, and not just about the world we live in. Writing fiction used to be one of my main hobbies, and I've recently rediscovered that passion. Ever since I started getting into ethical living, writing fiction got much harder. I don't want to write something that doesn't align with my values, but writing a story so heavy on morals got to serious for me to enjoy writing. However, I'm currently working on a project in which I feel like I was able to find a balance, and that's incredibly exciting for me, and I'm having a lot of fun.

I want to establish a presence online. I now have 550 followers on tumblr, which is mind blowing and I'm so grateful! I mostly reblog what I find important to share, but I would love to start making more original content, and add a more personal side to my tumblr so my followers can get to know me and we can build a relationship.
On the other hand, I want my Instagram to reflect my beliefs, and so I want to post more about veganism, climate change, ethical fashion and social justice.
Finally, I want to grow my youtube channel. I want to learn to make videos more efficiently, and I have so many ideas for future videos that I hope I'll upload to make this year.

I hope 2019 is yet another year of growth for me, and I'm excited for all of the new things I'll learn and experience this year.

What are you most proud of achieving in 2018? And how are you enjoying 2019 so far? What do you hope to accomplish this year?
