Vegan in Costa Rica #2: Arenal Volcano

Last week I shared with you my 3 days in Puerto Viejo. On the 3rd day we left Puerto Viejo and went to another place: Arenal Volcano.
The trip was long, and when we arrived, it was already dark. We had dinner in Que Rico Restaurant, one of the two restaurants in our hotel - Arenal Volcano Inn. I had their Spaghetti Pomodoro (without cheese). I didn't take pictures, but I did film it and put it in my video, which you can watch below!

On the following day, we opened our room's curtains... and we were breathless. The landscape of the volcano was beautiful.

The hotel's breakfast is a buffet, which had bread, fruit and - you guessed it, gallo pinto.

Afterwards we went to Mistico Park for a guided tour of the "Puentes Colgantes" (Hanging Bridges). On our way there, I saw this:

If you're vegan, you probably understand my excitement.

I highly recommend getting a tour guide if you're visiting the Hanging Bridges - it was such a fun tour, and we saw a lot of incredible animals that we would have definitely missed, like these cuties:

They were tiny - each one had probably the size of a pinky finger. This picture was taken with the tour guide's magnifier. So was this one:

Afterwards, we went back to the hotel to have lunch, again at the Que Rico Restaurant. This time I asked for the Vegetarian Casado (without eggs nor cheese).

Then we put on our swimsuits and headed to the waterfalls the hotel recommended we checked (I can't remember their name...)

hello i'm dumb

waterbending!!!

We swam in the river (the cold water and the strong current were part of the fun!) and had a lot of fun before dinner.
We decided to try the other restaurant in the hotel called Tabbule. I had their Falaffel, which would come with hummus that unfortunately contained yogurt, so I asked for a vegan alternative instead. They got me another sauce (I think it was their tartar sauce) which they assured had no animal products, and it was pretty nice!

As I promised, you can watch all of this in my video:

On the following day we left after breakfast to Monteverde - another wonderful adventure. You'll have to wait another week to find out!
Check out my other adventures in Costa Rica.
