Last Minute Ethical Gift Ideas

I know I already made a Christmas Gift Guide, but it was quite vague. It was intended to only give you a few tips on things to think about while choosing a gift. This time, I decided to actually make a list on ethical gift ideas - but since it's already so late, these are Last Minute Gifts: things that you won't have to order online, travel the world to get or spend the whole day making. On a list format, so I don't take much of your already short time!

Some of these might not be as accessible to you, so I organized the ideas according to where to look for them:

Some supermarkets & health stores
  • Vegan, fair trade chocolate
  • Fairtrade coffee/tea - look for those who don't come in tea bags!
  • Vegan cookies
Eco stores, Bio markets (and some health stores & supermarkets)
  • Bamboo Toothbrush
  • Menstrual Cup  (look in pharmacies also)
  • Cloth pads
  • Reusable (and sustainable) water bottle
  • Handkerchiefs and cloth napkins
  • Portable cutlery set
  • Reusable straw
  • Keepcup (or similar)
Second hand stores
  • handkerchiefs and cloth napkins
  • clothes/accessories
  • books
  • games
  • movies
  • anything cool you can find, really
Online (but you won't have to wait for shipping)
  • Netflix/Steam/Apple store/Google play/etc gift card
  • Online language course (look for one that gives an official certificate!)
  • Membership to Skillshare or similar
  • E-books
Experiences (Various locations)
  • Massage/Spa experience
  • Dinner (at their favorite restaurant)
  • Tickets to an amusement park, concert, game, movie, festival, museum...
  • Baby sitter/ House cleaners/ Gardener... services that will take some pressure off your loved one's shoulders
  • Classes nearby (dance, yoga, martial arts, pottery, painting, gardening, acting, singing, playing an instrument, make up, cooking...)
  • Gym subscription

Super easy&quick DIYs
  • Dry cake mix - grab your favorite vegan cake recipe and put all the dry ingredients in a jar. Put a small tag with the wet ingredients to add and in a few minutes you made a really cool gift
  • My vegan, zero waste deodorant - it's literally just mixing three ingredients you probably already have at home
  • Body scrub - I make one with equal parts of olive oil and sugar, but there are countless easy recipes online

And don't forget:
  • Plants make great gifts!
    • You can give a plant in a cute pot
    • You can put a few seeds in a glass jar (add a tag with the name of the plant&the instructions on how to care for it - or make it more fun by not putting the name of the plant, only the instructions: When it grows it will be a surprise. More on this on the video bellow

These are my ideas. On the beginning of December I actually recorded a video about Ethical Gift Ideas but I was so self conscious that I ended up not uploading it... until now! I figured I should challenge myself and go out of my comfort zone sometimes. If you're interested in messy hair, bad lighting and english struggles (oh, and ethical gift ideas) here it is:

I hope I helped you or at least made you laugh with both my blog posts and my video.
I won't post anything until Christmas but hopefully I'll be able to take photos of my vegan Christmas meals (I'll try to record it for another youtube video... can't make promises though!) and other cool stuff. And then it's the new year!
Until then, I hope you have the most wonderful time! Merry Christmas!
