Vegan in Côte d'Azur (French Riviera) ~ Day 3
Vence, Saint-Paul du Vence, Eze and back to Antibes
We spent the third day visiting a few towns nearby. Since we didn't know where we would be at lunch time, we decided not risking not finding anywhere for me to eat, and also save some money by packing our lunches. Nothing fancy - we just packed bread, lettuce, tomato and beans (we usually don't pack the sandwiches already made so the bread doesn't get soggy, we take the ingredients instead and make sandwiches just before eating... that worked wonderfully last year in Azores where there were picnic tables everywhere we went, but in France it wasn't as practical since it was even hard to find a bench to sit on!).
We visited so many beautiful places. This is a picture of me and my mom in Vence where you can see the beautiful landscaping.
We also wandered around the small streets, since no tourist experience is complete without getting a little lost on purpose.
We had lunch in Eze, after way too much time looking for a castle that turned out to be a hotel instead of a tourist attraction.
While coming back to our apartment, we got stuck in traffic, so by the time we got to Antibes we were starving. Since there was a vegan restaurant I wanted to check out nearby, we decided to go there. That was probably one of the best decisions I have ever made.
The restaurant is called Vega'Sun (as always I found it thanks to Happy Cow), and according to the reviews, it was like a vegan McDonald's, so I had to try it.
I had never tried a vegan fish alternative, so I went for the Vegefish burger with an extra of fake bacon (on the picture). My company got Classic burgers, one "Americain" (a long sandwich with a chicken alternative and cheddar cheese) and one samosa salad. All except the salad came with the biggest serving of fries I was ever served with!

I always forget to take pictures before I start eating since I'm always starving -.-' |
It was one of the most delicious burgers I've ever tried, I still dream about it! And those fries, I had all of mine plus some that my company couldn't finish. In the picture you can also see some vegan mayo for the fries since you can ask for a sauce.
I didn't take pictures of the other dishes but I did take a bite of everything that was ordered. The salad was okay, it came with 4 samosas that were the smallest I had ever seen. It wasn't bad - for a salad. It's just that there are so much better alternatives - that are less healthy and therefore more delicious...
The classic burgers were pretty good (not as good as mine in my opinion though) and the Americain was delicious! It competes with my Vegefish for first place!
The burger's menu includes a coffe, and the Americain comes with a dessert. Since we couldn't choose one of the two desserts available, we ended up purchasing one more so we could try them both.
On the right, there's a cupcake with chocolate frosting that I didn't really like, it was really dry on the inside. But on the left, oh boy.
The girl told us it was "Fondant" and couldn't tell us the English word for it, so we didn't really know what it was. It was a lava cake (something I used to love before I started learning about animal and human rights) and it was heavenly.
After finishing our desserts and coffees, we went back to our apartment, I was so full I could barely eat the following day, in Saint Tropez! But that's a matter for another post.
